To
finish this this blog, I would like to present the website of the the
CVCE (Centre Virtuel de la Connaissance de l'Europe), an
interdisciplinary research centre which fosters and popularises
studies and publication on the European integration process. This
centre was created in August 2002 and has his headquarters in a the
medieval Sanem castle, in Luxembourg. Clearly europeanist, its
motto is: "Knowing the past to build the future."
The
CVCE has a department entirely devoted to the "European Integration
Studies". Its researches focus on four main fields:
- the European organisations;
- the European states and the European integration;
- the European figures;
- The ideas, the values and the identities
The
historical, political, juridical and economical aspects of
europeanism are studied.
The superb Sanem castle, in Luxembourg, where the CVCE has his headquarters. |
The
centre also contributes to the "oral history" of europeanism, by
giving the floor to the actors of the European integration, like
Jacques Delors, Hubert Védrine or Valéry Giscard d'Estaing.
Very
well designed, the website of the CVCE is as complete as interesting.
Furthermore, it fully participates in the development of «digital
humanities», a new field which analyses the impact of computer
science on the research methods in social science. Besides, within
the CVCE, a digital humanities lab aims to stock up and to keep the
numeric data relating to the history of europeanism. Its role is
precious for the historians who work on this subject.
